At least half a million children in England don’t have a safe or stable home. These children and their families face some of the worst life chances, but we know that great social work has the power to change this. That’s why Frontline recruits and develops outstanding individuals to be social workers and leaders to transform the lives of the most vulnerable children and families.
Frontline’s two-year Leadership Development programme offers an exciting new route into one of Britain’s most challenging and rewarding professions: child protection social work. You will work with children, families, schools, courts and the police, empowering families, whilst studying for fully-funded qualifications.
We prioritise hands-on experience through practice-based learning, and you will benefit from intensive practical and academic training, tailored to your needs, as one of a new generation of children’s social workers.
Following a five-week residential training programme, you will spend two years working in a local authority, where you will start your career in social work. The first year qualifies you as a social worker through direct work with children and families. In the second year you will work as a newly qualified social worker whilst completing a fully-funded masters.
Social work is a leadership profession in which you must inspire, persuade and bring out the best in diverse groups of people. Frontline will help you develop these skills with our leadership development coaching, designed to support you to work with purpose to bring about change in a range of challenging settings.
We are looking for your potential to become an outstanding children’s social worker and leader, who is able to empower families to achieve positive change. Throughout the application process we will assess your ability through our competencies; motivation, empathy and relationship building; effective communication; analysis and adaptability and leadership.
If you join us, you’ll make a real difference to the lives of vulnerable children and their families. You’ll see a real difference in yourself too, as you develop a whole range of invaluable and transferable skills including leadership, relationship-building and conflict resolution.
Once you’ve completed the two-year programme, you will automatically become part of the Frontline Fellowship. This is a movement of outstanding individuals who are applying themselves to address social disadvantage in different ways.
The majority of fellows continue in the social work profession. Some move into consultant social worker roles and specialist areas such as youth offending or domestic violence, while others complete further qualifications. Some move away from direct practice to lead change in broader society.
Changing lives isn’t easy. But if you’re one of the few who dare to change; who want one of Britain’s most challenging jobs, then Frontline is for you.
